Romance authors began sending stories to publishers, who published what were labeled as the "Dime Western"-a pulp magazine of rough, rowdy, and romantic Western range fiction. These magazines were published weekly or monthly, and sold on newsstands for ten or fifteen cents. Yearly subscriptions sold for as little as four dollars.« less
