Who else is reading this right and what do you think?  I haven't been so captured by a book since, "Water For Elephants".  I have fallen in love with Jack and his mom.  I 'd love to hear other opinions on it.

I liked it, not sure I loved it.  I was worried that the whole book would be "them on the inside", I was glad when the story turned.  I did read in about a day, so I guess I kept me interested, I did like the characters, especially the mom.  In so many ways it seemed so far fetched but then you see some of these kinds of things in the news, so I guess not.

I just finished it.  I read it quickly because it just grabbed me. I agree with Margaret about being glad when the story turned.  The author achieved her purpose in capturing the day by day by day routine, but I was getting bored with it.

Wow!  The author presented this situation so realistically. As I'm reading, I'm thinking --yep, I bet that IS how he'd see it.  This does happen to people, and I feel like the author went right into the mind of a real life survivor.

I would classify it as an "airplane" book as I liked it enough and it was a quick read, great for an airplane trip.  Didn't love it.

I enjoyed it but I had some issues with it. I would have enjoyed it more if they would have ended it after part 2 though. There were things I just didn't buy about both characters behavior in the second half. The boy adjusted pretty darn fast for someone who thought there were only 2 people in the universe all his life. Mom, I don't know about here. The suicide attempt was totally out of character and she sure recovered from it fast. They let her out on her own after what, 2 weeks? I just didn't feel the characters were consistant. The biggest problem I had though was the grammar she had the boy speak with. His mom spoke to him properly and he watched enough tv, he would not have spoken so oddly. It seemed to be more for effect than a true representation of the character. Despite the things that bugged me I thought it was a good story and it actually made me cry a couple times.
