Author: John Braine
Room at the Top crackles with life. Not only is it a striking picture of an opportunist, but it re-creates the whole smell of a new town to a young man just arrived, when a place like Warley is the microcosm of a universe to conquer.

This audio cassette is Unabridged. This is a very enjoyable story about a handsome and very charming man with few scruples. He knows how to say just the right thing to get what he wants - usually from women. It is set in postwar England with the class separation and the hero (or anti hero) is a lower class accountant who yearns for the best. The reader is fabulous with a rich mellow British accent that I couldn't get enough of.
