We've had a huge drop-off in participation. I know that a couple of readers have said they couldn't get into the book, and that's fine. But I'm thinking that it's been surprisingly busy for most of us, and our original reading schedule was a bit too amitious. So I'm proposing we kind of start again, with a longer time to read the sections. Those of you who have kept up will have a chance to have more discussion, and those of us who are behind can still participate.

The new schedule will be 2 weeks for <200 pages, and 3 weeks for 200 pages or more. Hopefully this will allow those who have found themselves with more limited time (myself included) to participate again.

So as follows:

Part 1: Chapters 1 through 33 -Kunta Kinte from baby until capture (approx 150 pages) - Sept 18 - Oct 2

Part 2: Chapters 34 through 68 - Kunta Kinte from captivity to birth of Kizzy (approx 200 pages) - Oct 2 - Oct 23

Part 3: Chapters 68 through 83 - Family until Kizzy is sold (approx 200 pages) - Oct 23 - Nov 13

Part 4: Chapters 84 through 94 - Kizzy has George through George marries (approx 100 pages) - Nov 13 - Nov 27

Part 5: Chapters 95 to end (approx 200 pages) - Nov 27 - Dec 18

I hope nobody minds my executive decision regarding the scheduling!

I might be able to do this. I'll try. Thanks for letting me know.
