Don and Rosie, charming and entertaining in the first novel, lost much of their appeal in this second one. Now they live in New York, surrounded by more oddball friends and becoming involved in increasingly unbelievable situations that border on Keystone Kops scenarios. Rosie whines and demands, Don copes in his inimitable way--it all felt very cold and formulaic. I ended up skimming through much of the book, through to the not very surprising ending.
