Beep-beep-beep.......just 5 more minutes. The morning noises of in the house start to drown out the birds outside the windows. My feet hit the floor simultaneously, pain runs up my calfs into my hips, ouch. All eyes are on me four green, two blue, two brown they know the order of progression. The oldest of the group heads for the front door her bladder isn't what it used to be,I know the feeling well, out she goes. Next the youngest climbs my leg although she is to young to know she is not a cat she plays the part anyway.......the food hits her dish and she throws herself into it like a pie eating contest with everything riding on it. Now the best for last the sleek furry bodies who have always agreed to disagree call truce, for salmon is a peace maker as sure as a waving white flag. Sounds of birds can once again be heard outside.......the heavenly smell of coffee fills the air......the rich brown liquid just comes to my lips as my bottom hits the chair..........scratch.....scratch.......scratch......I've forgotton someone, coffee cup down, I let her in and fill her dish. Being an older lady she has a more genteel way of consuming breakfast than her younger companion. Ahhhh blissful morning peace. Happy munching, crunching slurping heard all around me. I enjoy a long slow sip of warming coffee, enjoying the soothing sounds around me. Bottom hits chair oh sweet comfort. Beep-beep-beep........"Honey where's my work pants?" I hear down the hall way.........Two sleepy eyed teen age girls come into the room, how they can look so beautiful just rolling out of bed I don't know, but they do. Cupboards slamming, refrigerator door whooshing open then shut. Open, shut, open, shut. Like a disappearing lady in a magic show they hope for something interesting to appear, but is a no show. They gather around the table munching, crunching, slurping. This is my world, my routine, I would change not a thing.

You make the common world so graceful, Lena! These are the sacred rites of the goddess of the house...
