ISBN 9780375842030 - Rudolph is a major Christmas favorite and - be honest - the TV show (ASIN B000R7G6KE Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer) once a year just isn't enough. As I work my way through dozens of childrens' holiday books, I'm extra happy to find a board book because there can never be enough books for the pre-reading set!

Rudolph and his friends plan a surprise party for Santa. Hermey, Abominable, Yukon, Mrs Claus and the elves decorate and make food before Santa arrives, to a "Surprise! Merry Christmas!"

The illustrations, by Linda Karl, are absolutely fantastic - they could have been lifted right out of the movie! On every page, Rudolph is soft, pettable, and fuzzy, an extra treat for little ones who maybe can't read by themselves, but who can certainly enjoy petting a reindeer. The glittery sparkle of the front cover is not carried over to the inside of the book. No author is listed on the book. Although the book is technically a "shaped" board book, it's not IN the shape of anything. It is fairly small, which makes it easier for tiny hands to hold and the thick, sturdy board book pages are easier to turn and harder to destroy, always a plus. Use this one to build up to ASIN B0012LZ0II Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (Written for Montgomery Ward); the original Rudolph tale is one no true fan can miss!
