The only problem I had with this book is that it wasn't long enough! The last Rumpole book is like saying goodbye to an old friend. I loved it!

This is a collection of short Christmas stories that Mortimer wrote between the late 90's and middle half of the last decade. The earlier tales fall more into the traditional sentimental Christmas mystery, while the later ones seem to be more reflective of contemporary issues.

The last story in the collection "Rumpole And The Christmas Break" makes a fine compliment to "Rumpole And The Reign Of Terror" also published in 2006. This final story pay's a nodding wink to P.G. Woodhouse, that left me both in tears of laughter as well as sorrow for the passing of this great legal satirist.
