Ok...just received a book today and upon inspecting it I realize the sender sort of took a sneaky way around my RC. Just as a personal pet peeve (nothing to do with not liking used books or trying to get them for resale...so please don't think any of those thoughts......I just don't like writing in books plain and simple). My RC states no rioting of any sort in a book, sender accepts and ships me the book, HOWEVER, it's very clear because it was dine so poorly that a name had been written on the inner first page of the book because it's cut off but not completely....the bottom of some of the letters are there and on the next page you can see the pressure mark of the name so I definitely know the corner was cut off with 98% of the writing. Sooooo, does this count as a rwap??? I don't want my credit back as I will just read the book and reswap it in this case...but should I mark it as such so the sender doesn't get comfy being sneaky with creative ways to avoid rc's???

I don't think names, name plates and inscriptions count under the "no-writing rule".  I believe that just means no notes written on text pages. If you don't wnat names or inscriptions you might have specify that.

Also how would someone know if there's rioting in a book if they haven't read it and just posted it to pass it on?  You'd have to read hte book yourself before marking it received to make sure there were no riots of any kind in the book. (JK: I know it's probably auto-correct)

Lol..on the rioting!!! Pretty sure as my RC states " no writing of any sort on or in the book anywhere" that would include a name being written inside the front page of e book. No?

She may have gotten the book with the name cut out beforehand.  I know that when I get rid of books I will cross out the name.  I don't believe that she did not adhere to your RC.  But this is just my opinion.

Yes I thought about that too...but then because you can still see enough of e writing obviously would you be able to mail it with a clear conscience about the RC??? Or maybe accept and check thru a pm first???

The book had no writing, so your RC was followed. (Yes, your RC of "no writing" should exclude the places within the book that writing normally IS allowed).

She could have just cut out the entire page and posted the book to you, as your RC does not mention "no missing pages", and the site rules allow for non-text pages to be missing.

Honestly, I think you have to let this one go. I know that if I get books wih pencil marks in them, for example, I erase it and consider the book to have no writing in it.
