This book was long but fascinating. An account of one upper-class Vietnamese family who undergoes French occupation, Communist rebellion, and finally the American entry into the Vietnam War. Told in great detail, it shares this family's knowledge of worlds that don't even exist anymore, and later, transitions to the modern day.
