Though I normally come to PBS site daily, I must have gone 48 hours without checking in over the holiday weekend cause I got an email saying I missed out being offered a book on my WL.

Now you know to use autorequest or to check your email at least if you aren't going to come on PBS.

*hugs* Jeanne.

I had this happen awhile back also.  I'm on PBS almost every day...but apparently we were so busy, I was just bouncing past my transaction page and missed the WL offer  sad  Many of my books are on auto-request, but for various reasons a couple are not.  My own fault, but I was still bummed.

I missed out on a WL book offer over a weekend when I didn't check in here once, and I waited over two years before I gave up on getting the book and got it from another source. crying

Now, all my WL books are on AutoRequest.  If you don't want to do this, or don't have the credits to cover them, you can always just put the books where you are 1 of 1 in WL line on AutoRequest...

All of my books that I am at least 3 on the waiting list are on auto request.

Yup, I have my whole WL set to autorequest. I mean, I'm here virtually every day, but it's just easier for me to have it set that way. I've never regretted it!

Well, I haven't had a WL for very long so I'm gradually learning about the other features, though in past 2 months I have rec'd a lot of books that were on my WL.   I only have books on WL that I have enough credits for (have multiple versions of same book for most). Now that I don't work anymore, I am rarely on email as 90% of my emails are from vendors so mostly spam, but usually I'm on PBS daily, just don't know how I went a whole 48 hours without checking in --LOL !

Thanks for the auto-request suggestion--I will use it to put just the ones I'm near number one.  --J

I'm here everyday, but Auto-Request is the way to go for the WL.  I've got plenty of credits to cover, so its nice to get an email saying my request has been accepted for a WL book and I didn't have to do a thing.  Of course this creates quite a large TBR since I'm not keeping up.  But oh well, I'll get to em eventually.

Since I don't have enough credits to cover all my WL books I place everything on auto request. Then when I get close to the top of the line I decide to either leave it on auto request or place the book on hold. That way I don't lose my stop.

Yes, and from a practical standpoint, you don't actually need the full amount of credits to cover ALL your WL books, because what are the chances that you will suddenly be offered ALL of them all at one time?  If they are anything like my WL books, that just isn't going to happen.  So, you can place a lot of books on AutoRequest that you do not have covering credits, because you can always add more credits if your stash gets a little low from wishes being granted...

I keep a full WL and I rarely have more than 5-10 credits.  If I get low than I put them on hold until I can read and post some WL books.  I have a few books that are always on autorequest because they're out of print and rarely posted.  I try to keep 5 credits on hand for those.  I go through and autorequest books that I'm ner the top for and am ready to receive.

Until JAN I rarely ever reached a balance of 10 credits so was in danger of being "short" if several WL books came up in same month, but then I got blasted with over 30 requests that month and saved the credits so I would have some available. Since then  I have been getting quite a few of my WL books and am #1 on at least 6 so it's good I'm now in a "save for your WL books" frame of mind.

But guess what??    Did research and it turned out I WAS NOT given the 48 hours to respond to the WL offer. PBS powers that be are looking into the glitch now.  Records show it was less than 42 max:  offer made to me at 3pm Sunday and vanished by 9am Tues so when I signed in then ( after skipping checking PBS only on Monday) the offer was already gone.
