Well we finally had our first frost here.  I spent some time on sunday covering the strawberries in leaves, bedding them down for the winter.  I still had peppers growing so I made a sort of greenhouse around some of them with my green bean poles and a plastic tarp.  Over a few others I threw a garabage can with some leaves in it.  They seems to survive the frost last night.  Hopefully I can get the peppers off in a few days.

I still have some pumpkins and squash to deal with (cook and freeze) and just recieved about 4 bushels of apples, so while I think it's over....it's not really yet :)

I know what you mean. I love the fall, except for those killing frosts. I didn't cut the basil, and now it's just mush. : [
