"To Sail Beyond the Sunset" is the capstone story in a series of novels that were set in the past/future and parallel universes. The main character is Woodrow Wison Smith aka Lazarus Long, Captain Sheffield, etc. The story ties many threads together from other stories and fleshes out many of the characters from along the way. The story also greatly fleshes out the character Maureen Johnson, the mother of Woodrow Wilson Smith.
