Federal government agencies have not been required to comply with SOX, but there has been a re-examination of the existing internal control requirements in light of SOX, and OMB (Office of Management & Budgeting) has recently updated Circular A-123. It defines managements responsibility for internal control in Federal agencies. The implementation of these requirements may prove to be difficult and costly.
