McEwan's story develops slowly. Normally, I might absorb McEwan over a few days of thoughtful reading, frequently putting the book down for some other responsibility, sorta sauntering through his leisurely tale.

In this instance, figuring "Saturday" takes place over one day, I listened to the entire 12-hour story over two days. The audio presentation allowed me to keep a pace that I would not have maintained if I read the book. I was well rewarded. This is a good story, Steven Crossley's reading makes "Saturday" come alive, his performance makes it easy to fly through the numerous discs.
