Has anybody read these authors?  I have the Magic Series and Darkwing Chronicles and just can't seem to get into them.  I'm wondering if the stories pick up more throughout or if their flops.

My top authors are Yasmine Galenorn, Carrie Vaughn, Patricia Briggs, Kim Harrison, Rebecca York, Lara Adrian.  Are these series similar at all?

TIA

Kelli

Hi Kelli.   I've read the first book in both of those series a long time ago.  Neither was my favorite.   I didn't care enough to go out and get subsequent books from those series.

I read the first of McCray's Magic series. parts of it dragged and I thought it was a little too long but meh. I ordered #2 and #3 of the series to see if they get better at all. I really liked the characters so for me it is worth it to keep reading.

i liked the Darkwing series but couldn't get into the Cheyenne McCray. I gave up on that one about halfway through.

Thanks for the input.  I got halfway through the first in each series and it didn't 'grab' me so I put them off to the side.  Figured once I catch up on all the new releases than I might try again.

I'm with Mary - like the Darkwing not the McCray. Maybe they will grab you later :)

I didn't care for either.  Ruse I stopped after 1, McCray I stop after starting the 3rd book and realizing they were all the same!

I read Russe's first book and didn't like it.  It was about a several hundred years old, supposed genius vampire who I found to be be shallow and not that smart.  I find it frustrating to read about characters who do stupid things when the author keeps telling me how smart they are.

I also read McCray's first book which had several (IIRC) skanky villain sex scenes.  I've never been a fan of the look-they-must-be-villains-because-they-do-freaky-stuff-in-bed crap.

For me, one book from each was enough.  I don't need to read any more.

DITTO for everyone!!!

I tried to read each of these and just couldn't keep intereted.  I usually like McCray, but the "Magic" series just couldn't cut it for me.
