I'm starting a new thread and maybe we can just let the others fade away. This is from Nikki from MoonlightArmy.com who is at the convention here in LA this weekend. There are potential season 2 spoilers so stop reading if you don't want to know what may happen. All I can say is we were in for a great season. :-(

Hey everyone, Nikki here, coming to you from L.A. at the MoonlightCon. Last night we had the pleasure of getting to chat with Ex. Producer/Writer Harry Werksman and writer Kira Snyder. We got some good dish that I'm gonna share with you right now...

Yesterday we went to Warner & got to run around and look at a ton of places where they filmed (I've got pics, will post them later) and I also got to go into Beth's apartment, and Mick's apartment. I got to sit on the leather couch, and I'd be lying if I didn't say it made me tear up sitting there looking around & thinking of everything that happened there. Same thing with Beth's Apartment, and Josef's Office was completely gone except for the huge mural that had been on the ceiling. We were told they took pictures of everything so they could recontruct it if needed, but that if the show goes to new york, obviously the sets would change...

We are getting a dvd set! It should be out in the fall and they are going to try and add what they can as far as bloopers and extra scenes. They will also *most likely* have Alex in for some episode commentary.

He said no matter what they would get us *something*, if not a second season (and he thinks it would most likely be a midseason cut-in if we got picked up) then a straight to dvd thing, or maybe a movie. Cool!

There is also talk about doing a Moonlight Sountrack CD, how cool is that?

Right now it looks like the Sci-Fi channel is the direction we are heading for. If we get picked up by them, the show will have to move to New York which means a "Vampire Relocation Program" for our boys...

SEASON TWO SPOILERS read at your own risk!!! SERIOUSLY!

1) Officially DEAD: Ryder, Lt.Carl, and ..brace yourselves...Sarah Whitley. Yep he said they are all done, though wouldn't reveal how they ended up gone... Confused

2) Simone, Josef's freshie, was to be a big part of the season, however the actress playing her failed to mention she's pregnant, so they're not sure about what to do with that.

3) Beth IS indeed part of the French Royal bloodline and she does hold the key to the cure which is why she was kidnapped. He also said that because of this Beth CAN NOT be turned. Whether that means she can't because it wouldn't work or it can't because she would die was left up in the air...

4) The season was going to revolve around a group called "The Legion" who have been around forever. They are humans and THEY GAVE THE LIST TO TALBOT!!! They feel that the vampire population has gotten out of control in Los Angeles and needs to be reduced. They basically declare war with the vampires and IT IS SO ON! Lance & Coraline return and ask Mick to help. Basically he now only has one choice - fight with the vampires or fight with the humans. Shocked He said total vampire apocalypse would indeed be the case. One planned scene was having the L.A. River at night FULL with 100s of Cleaners taking on the Legion army - wow, can you just picture that???

5) The bad news, and I must stress that this is *right now* and things can always change, so don't freak out too much, but... apparently Sophia refuses to move to New York for filming. Which means we would lose our Beth. As you can imagine we all started screaming that there was no point without her in it. I mean, I love our boys but theres no ML without MickBeth for me, personally. Lets hope they get to stay in L.A. after all or that Sophia will change her mind. AGAIN, nothings 100% right now, so please don't start emailing her, lol.

That's about all I can remember at this point, and I am headed off to the planned activities for the rest of the day, but will try and report in as the news comes in...

KEEP FIGHTING! Now is not the time to give up!

here's some more info from MOONLIGHT -UNITED;

Updates from Moonlight Con - Updated 05.24.08

Moonlight Con is in full swing, complete with special guest Harry Werksman (writer/executive producer). Here are some tidbits he shared:

  • Harry thanked the fans over and over for the support that we have shown the show. He said that in the 12 shows he has worked on, he has never seen this kind of support from the fans.
  • The cast are aware of our efforts and are very appreciative.
  • Talks for season 2 are ongoing. Harry also said that there is no Moonlight without Alex, so Alex will be involved in whatever additional Moonlight we get.
  • Plan C is a possible Moonlight movie, but Harry says it’s not time for Plan C yet.
  • Look for Moonlight season 1 to be released on DVD sometime in September. Alex O’Loughlin is set to do commentary on at least some of the episodes; other extras have not yet been decided.
  • A soundtrack of music from the first season is also “in the works”.
  • If Moonlight is picked up by the Sci-Fi Channel (note: this is NOT an official declaration that the show has or will be picked up by Sci-Fi), then the show will have to do a “vampire relocation” story so production can move to New York City. See below for information on contacting Sci-Fi.

Some other news:

  • The sets have been dismantled and put into storage, but the crew kindly left Mick’s and Beth’s apartments for last so the convention-goers could tour them during their Warner Bros. lot tour. Read all about that here.
  • UPDATED 05.24.08: We got another press shout out from the Star-Telegram (Texas):

Ghost Whisperer: Well, this isn’t good: CBS originally had a repeat of Moonlight here, but has made a schedule change, airing a Ghost Whisperer repeat instead (another GW repeat airs in the show’s usual 7 p.m. slot). Moonlight has been canceled, but you can’t keep a good vampire down, and the show’s fans hope to resurrect it on another network. If you want to get in on that action, go to Moonlight Line, forums.moonlightline.com.

And, finally, it’s time to really target the Sci-Fi Channel, folks. How awesome would it be for them to get to the office after the long weekend and find hundreds thousands of postcards from Moonlighters waiting for them? Here’s the address:

SCI FI Channel
21st Floor
30 Rockefeller Plaza
New York, NY 10112

UPDATED 05.24.08: You can also email Sci-Fi at feedback@scifi.com with your support for Moonlight on their channel. We strongly encourage that you email in addition to sending postcards for maximum impact.

From Moonlightfan.blogspot.com:

Grass roots campaign asking DirecTV to sponsor Moonlight

UPDATED INFO! Send all DirecTV emails to this address only ~ the101@direcTV.com This is the dedicated address DirecTV set up for us Moonlight fans.

Friday Night Lights not only shared Moonlight's time slot. It was also a bubble show. Our show won in the ratings, while FNL hovered around 5 million viewers weekly. You may have read about the unique deal that saved their show. NBC approached DirecTV to partner with them & share the cost of Friday Night Lights. That is how the show was saved.

Rumor has it that the Sci-Fi Channel is very, very interested in picking up Moonlight. The problem is ~ you guessed it ~ money. Moonlight episodes cost about $2.5 million each, but Sci-Fi can only afford $1.5 million.

*** By the way.... Please, be sure to continue contacting the SciFi Network! You can see that it is having the effect that we want. YEA! ***

That is what led to the idea of Moonlight fans contacting DirecTV asking them to sponsor our show, similar to their NBC/FNL deal.

Here is more info as Leeser has kindly detailed for everyone :)

We have been noticing the threads suggesting that the fans could subsidise the remaining funds for the production of Moonlight. While that is a wonderful thought in theory, for many reasons it would not be likely to happen. Instead we may have found another option.

As most are aware, NBC recently sealed a deal with DirecTV to bring Friday Night Lights back to life, NBC’s critically acclaimed but ratings starved Friday night high school melodrama. The deal struck allows for DirecTV to air new episodes of Friday Night Lights in October, 2008, most likely on its High-def channel 101. NBC and its affiliates such as Universal HD would air the episodes starting in January, 2009.

We believe that a campaign to solicit DirecTV interest in pursuing a similar arrangement could be beneficial and profitable to the satellite provider, as well as the WB and Silver Pictures. However, our efforts will differ in that it is not the network or studio that is approaching DirecTV, but rather the fans.

Recently, DirectTV has undertaken an aggressive marketing campaign to heighten public awareness. They are trying to distinguish themselves from its rival on content as well as price and seem to be willing to spend the money to do it. Our approach will definitely be different in that NBC approached DirecTV. Since this would be a grassroots fan campaign, it will have a different marketing spin for DirecTV. How many satellite companies can say that they’ve got fans approaching them about saving their show?

It has come to my attention that financing is a big stumbling block in the potential pickup of our show. The show costs about 2.6 million +/- to make and networks are only willing to pony up about 1.5 million of what is needed. That's not good. To get the quality show we have come to expect, 1.5m isn't going to do it. Not by a long shot.

Thus, we are starting a grassroots fan campaign to get corporate sponsors to come on board and make a financial commitment to support Moonlight.

Be polite, thoughtful and encouraging when you contact these people. Stress the numbers: this show has 7.5 to 8 million viewers, that the show reached the desired 18-49 demographic, that it consistently helped CBS to win Friday nights and that loyal fans will go to/remain with any advertiser that supports their favorite show.

Right now, SciFi is definitely showing interest in our show. Let's show them how much we love it!

Seriously can't believe that Moonlight was cancelled and have you seen the ads for one of their new offerings?

A piece of crap "Swingtown"  and can I just say everyone looks like a nasty 70's porn star.  Like a big cheesy Village People mustache is sexy.   Gross!   Hope it goes swirling down the drain after 1 showing.

DirecTV Wants To Know: Would You Switch?

Yesterday a rep from DirecTV called MLL’s Leeser and said that Moonlighters have definitely caught their attention. They would like more information about actual numbers, though, so Leeser has posted a poll at MLL asking if you have DirecTV now or would be willing to get DirecTV if they sponsored Moonlight. You do need to be a member at MLL to vote, but registration is quick and easy. The folks at DirecTV will be monitoring the poll.

Go vote!

This is some new info from Heather:

Do you know about the Moonlight ribbon? This is from the moonlightarmy.

Every great cause has an awareness ribbon, so I thought why not ours?

I think it's a great way to show our love for and dedication to saving the show. I also think it's a great conversation piece that'll help to get people asking questions, or catch the eye of a fellow fan that may not know what's going on.

theBuzzWire.net/MoonlightArmy.com will be funding this project, all you need to do to get one is send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the address below.

Here is a pic, wear it proud Moonlighters!

Thanks for posting that, I hope they're still available, I really want one .....

ETA: I'm presuming that CBS has pulled the re-runs of Moonlight on Friday nights to spite the fans, who are angry at them for cancelling the show? Anyone know? I can't wait for the DVD .....

I love this show. I credit iTunes for making me a fan because they gave the pilot away for free. I also got my Mom watching it as well.

So I guess this is the final nail in the coffin (pun intended) for Moonlight. As much as I love him I can't see myself going out of my way to watch everything he does from now on. It was Moonlight + Alex that I loved.

I can't really understand why you would stay with the network that axed your show? I mean, I know actors have to work but he could have stuck with movies. Who's to say CBS won't axe the next show he stars in?!

Seems a slightly strange choice, especially given how strongly he seemed to feel about Moonlight's fate but I wish him well, regardless .....

wow, I was shocked to read about this today ..... I mean, I am happy for Alex because he needs a pay check obviously, but I bet the thought of returning to work for CBS after the way they treated him and the cast of Moonlight, which to me was despicable, UGH!!! I just don't know.... Since the cancellation of Moonlight, I have not watched CBS at all.... I refuse to watch anything on it....

It makes me sick to see that now HBO and ABC have new shows coming out in the Fall about vampires, and CBS was so STUPID to let Moonlight go ...... (other words, less appropriate come to mind to call CBS)

I am one of the thousand of fans that has written petititions, sent emails to targeted networks, sent letters to Direct TV, USA, CW, TNT, SCi-FI, etc,..... joined the SAVE MOONLIGHT CAMPAIGNS, and I can't understand why no other network would want to pick this show up.....especially now with the vampire "craze" starting to hit the other networks...... CBS already had a goldmine with Moonlight..... what were they thinking??? Nina Tassler should have been fired !!!
