Excellent old style romantic adventure about a "chick in pants" -- but it's not a disguise: her father had raised her that way and everybody in the neighborhood knew about it. But now that Lady Robina Dellingham has reached marriageable age, her aunts have descended upon Veryan Chase to get her out of pants and into hoops and silks. Robin wants none of it, not even after she meets the Marquis of Revelmere, who wants her to wife, breeches or no. Sylvia Thorpe is old school, but I like her elegant prose and the sense of romantic adventure she brought to her books.
