Two or three times a year, Scholastic has a warehouse sale (check their website for locations)and the overstock books are a lot cheaper. You can also pick up stocking stuffers (pens, erasers, etc) that get marked down to 80-90% off. They usually have a coupon for $10 off $50 and if you volunteer at the sale, you usually get a better discount. I buy gifts for birthday parties and stash them away so it's just rummaging around in the box and wrapping a gift instead of having to rush to the store for a gift for a last-minute party!
If you are looking for free e-books for a Kindle, etc subscribe to the free newsletter Pixels of Ink-it's great. I have more books than I can read on my iPod touch.
