I'm in the mood to try something new. Can anyone recommend a good Sci-Fi romance author? I grabbed some books by Lora Leigh at the library, but they may be a little bit too spicy for me.

I have Walking on the Moon :: Susan Sizemore on my WL, and I guess that's sort of what I'm looking for.  Kinda like "Pluto Nash" :)

I won't read ghosts, witches, demons or psychics...all that aside, I'm game for almost anything as long as it's fun!

As far as vampires go, I've read the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands & am currently reading the Young Brothers series by Kathy Love. I have the first vampire book by Erin McCarthy, but have tried reading it twice and couldn't get into it... Again, the vampire books need to be fun or lighthearted.

Please help, I'm running out of books, LOL!

What about shape shifters?  If those are a go you might try G.A. Aiken's Dragon books which are so much fun and funny. For light vampire fare, you could also try Undead and Unwed by Mary Janice Davidson.  The series is getting too long now, but the first book is a lot of fun.

Yes, Shape Shifters I'll do... I've read Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampires series (which was really starting to wierd me out, so I quit), but LOVED Quinn:)

Off to look those up and add them to my RL :) Thanks!

Linnea Sinclair is one of my fav sci-fi romance authors. Finders Keepers and Games of Command are great books.

Other sci-fi or futuristic romance authors I've tried and recommend:

Autumn Dawn
Catherine Spangler
Eve Kenin

Lara Adrian has a vampire series.  I've read the first two, and am reading the third right now.

ETA Whoops.  Forgot the new link button.

And here is an older thread with several suggestions:

The Parallel series by Diedre Knight.  (Aliens hiding and then taking over Earth)

If you like erotica: Michelle Pillow has a couple of futuristic/alien/shapeshifter series.

Have you tried the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris? They aren't really romance-I consider them kind of black comedy/urban fantasy.  They are also quite a bit different from teh TV show.

Wicked Game :: Jeri Smith-Ready

i liked this one for vampires.  It's a little different from the others.  I have some other titles on my list from this author, but have only read this one so far.

My favorite paranormal authors and series are:

J.R. Ward - Black Dagger Brotherhood (of course - there is really  no better than this series imo!)

Lynne Viehl - Darkyn Series

Lara Adrian - Midnight Breed Series

Nalini Singh - psy/changeling series

Kresley Cole - Immortals After Dark (my second favorite series!)

I almost hesitate to recommend these books because they were supposed to be a series but their publishers squashed the plans. SF/Futuristics types:

Marilyn Campbell's WORLDS APART - a thunderstorm throws a plane carrying wounded soldiers, nurses and POWs into a parallel universe. A great cast of characters screaming for their own story but nothing ever came of it. I think Campbell is underrated, at least her early stuff (her rom/susp PRETTY MAIDS IN A ROW is a very different kind of romance, keeps you guessing all the way through it).

Justine Dare's  LORD OF THE STORM & THE SKYPIRATE - awesome start to a series but it ended with SKYPIRATE. Another cast of characters who needed their own story. Dare/Davis has been an auto-buy author for years.

Kathy Love - Young brothers and sister, 3 vamps and a werewolf

Gerry Bartlett - Glory St Claire Real Vampires series; an ongoing story of a female vamp and her long time lover played for both laughs and suspense

Michelle Rowan - Immortality Bites series. - also played for a combination of laughs and suspense

Katie MacAlister's vampire series is excellent-lots of humor.  It starts with A Girl's Guide to Vampires.  The second is one of my favorites-Sex and The Single Vampire.

Thank you, thank you! Lots more to look up:) I have MJD's Queen Betsy books coming to me, along with the first 2 (and only so far) in her Cyborg series coming!

I think my library has the Katie MacAllister ones, I'll check on that, and look up all the others:)

Michele Bardsley's Broken Heart, Oklahoma series is good too.  The first one is I'm the Vampire, That's Why.
