This is Kat's story. The first in the series is Mari's story, the Bodygaurd. And the next one is Her Outlaw, which is Emma's story.
They are good fun books to read. I'm anxiously awaiting Her Outlaw and have it on my Wish List.

This is the second of three stories about the McBride Menaces as they are growing up. Kat is the focus of this book. From HER BODYGUARD, we know that Kat married an actor, Rory Callahan, became pregnant and found she was married to a bigamist.
Kat was devastated when Rory died trying to do the right thing. As this book opens, Kat and Emma are in Galveston, talking to one Jake Kimball, adventurer and scoundrel extraordinaire. Jake and Kat are interested in each other but it is years later before they meet again.
Things I liked: The chemistry between Jake and Kat was great, they were funny together and the story had lots of twists. It was great having Luke and Mari play important roles in this story. Most of the McBride's were also part of this tale; Trace and his worries over his 3 daughters are amusing.
Perhaps I shouldn't have read HER SCOUNDREL on the heels of the one before; the curse of the McBride clan got a bit old. I also thought the solution (at the end) was a bit too pat. Otherwise, this is a page-turner.

Life has dealt Katrina McBride some serious blows. She has vowed that she will never trust a man again. When she sees a man from her past that she believes stole her prized necklace, Kat stops at nothing to get it back. Jake Kimball quickly sees through her disguise and believes Kat is the woman he needs in his life. She is the perfect mother for his orphaned nieces and nephew. But trying to convince her of that fact will take some work.
This is another satisfying story in the Bad Luck Brides series. I loved Jake and Kat. They were hilarious together and had fantastic chemistry. The four nieces and nephew were fun. They very much reminded me of Kat and her sisters from the first few books in the series. So, if I liked them so much, why didn't I give this book a better rating? I'm so sick of the necklaces and the McBride curse. That storyline dragged the last third of the book to a screeching halt. I think we could have easily edited out 70 pages without the curse. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
