I have an Alice in Wonderland book with the ISBN 1405468157. When I search that to see the details, I get Little Women from the same publisher. I've searched my Alice ISBN on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Amazon has it as Alice and Barnes and Noble has it as Little Women.

Should I go in and edit the data? I used to work at a publisher and I know about barcodes and the systems they are used in. I feel certain there is a mistake in the cataloging by the distributor (where PBS info comes from).

I'm just not sure if I should change the info, since it is so completely wrong.

Thanks for any help you can give.

If there are any books posted to that ISBN it should not be changed!

Sometimes the ISBN is reused for different editions of the same book, or different books altogether.

You would have to be able to prove that that ISBN was never used for the other book, before it would be appropriate to change it here.

Publishers have been known to reuse the numbers.   Older numbers have it more often.  The newer numbers are more often reused for different versions of the same book.  Older books in a series often were all one number.  And I can see Alice and Little Women being in a series.

Edits have to be approved by PBS volunteers.  And where there is conflicting info, it's not going to get approved.  This is a book that needs to be posted without a number.  The system assigns a short number for those.

The fact that it's listed on different book selling sites with different titles is a good indicator that the publisher reused the ISBN.  PBS will not change it especially if others have the books posted as Little Woman or WL as Little Woman. I can also see these being released as part of a series.  You'll have to post your book without an ISBN.  It's easy to do.
