In Search Of Our Mothers' Gardens: Womanist Prose
In Search Of Our Mothers' Gardens Womanist Prose Author:Alice Walker As a woman, writer, mother, and feminist, Walker explores the theories and practices of feminism, incorporating what she calls the “womanist” tradition of African american women.
Nowadays we'd call it "feminist" but in the African-American community back then it was called "womanist."
This anthology was very enlightening, and has also encouraged me to read Zora Neal Hurston's books "There Eyes Were Watching God," and "Mules and Men."
