I'm looking for a book that is a fictional account of Lola Montez' life. Her name is changed to Lola Montero in the book and I remember very little about it, including the title and author. Does it sound familiar to anyone out there? Last Edited on: 7/14/10 5:34 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

The one novel I know of that is about Lola Montez is Dare to Love by Jennifer Wilde. Her name's been changed to Elena Lopez, but it is a thinly-veiled biography of Lola Montez, including her affairs with King Ludwig, Liszt, Wagner, Dumas. |

That sounds like a book I'd like to check out. I do remember a little more about the book I'm looking for. She has the adventures with King Ludwig and others, but there is a man who desires her that she refuses, I think because he wants to control her (not really sure). She is also accompanied a lot of the time by an older family servant from India. I think that the title might have the word Woman in it.
Tch, I accidently made a blank post. Sorry about that. Last Edited on: 7/14/10 10:36 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Found it! The Infinite Woman by Edison Marshall (1950) Saw this description on a used book site: In The Infinite Woman, the author has created the heroine Lola Montero, a woman with natural gifts of beauty, passion and power and set with the Victorian World as its background. There's 1 copy left. Go get it! :) (I only ask that if you're going to eventually swap it out again, I'd love it! Putting it on my WL.) Last Edited on: 7/14/10 11:14 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Thank you! I used to have a copy that I inherited from my grandmother, but I lost it to a "friend" along with numerous other items about five years ago.. I'll go check to see if it's still there right now!
Ah, it's a hardback. I'm going to have to wait until I get another point. Last Edited on: 7/15/10 6:31 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Hi Kim -- Welcome to PBS. I may have misunderstood your post above but it sounds like you think more credits are needed for a hardback than a paperback. That's not the case. One credit per book -- regardless of binding. Audio versions are 2 credits. Hope you get your book! |

Kim, I requested the book after I saw your PM. Didn't even see the 1 credit/2 credit thing. If you would rather have the book, I can have the sender mail it to you instead. I selected another book from them, but they should have no problem sending 2 books to 2 different addresses. They're still getting 2 credits. |

Deb and Jerelyn,
Thanks! I'll keep that in mind for next time! And I'll read the link later today, when I have a little more time.
Karla,
No, it's cool. I've already got the book on order. *smiles* I really think you'll enjoy it, I know I did when I read it years ago. |
