Searching for Caleb
Author: Anne Tyler
Anne Tyler gives us the Pecks of Roland Park, telling the story of a "fine family" and its mavericks through four generations. An old family mystery draws the present into its configuration as Justine Peck sets out with her grandfather in search of his half-brother Caleb, who vanished more than sixty years before.

Really enjoyed this particular novel of Ms. Tyler. Love this eccentric couple, fun to watch them. Also got a kick out of the idyocyncrasies of this clan. I found it a rather sweet ending...not typical of Tyler.

Another thought-provoking novel by Tyler. This one asks several questions to apply to the reader's own life and left me thinking about Justine's and Duncan's and Caleb's life journies. The variety of the characters, one of Tyler's strong points, made the story a very interesting one.

Book Description: "Magic and true, dazzling and wise...It has an astounding confidence, depth and range...A wonderful, wonderful novel."

THE BOSTON GLOBE: Duncan Peck has a fascination for randomness and is always taking his family on the move. His wife, Justine, is a fortune teller who can't remember the past. Her grandfather, Daniel, longs to find the brother who walked out of his life in 1912, with nothing more than a fiddle in his hand. All three are taking journeys that lead back to the family's deepest roots...to a place where rebellion and acceptance have the haunting power to merge into one...."
