I was wondering if there is a seasonal pattern for how often people post and request books on PBS.  Does it seem to speed up certain times of the year?  I've been a member for about 6 weeks, and it seems as if the last couple of weeks have been very slow, with some of the books I've requesting going through 2 or 3 people before someone finally responds.   Also, WL books I've posted have sometimes timed out and gone to the next requestor.  Is this because it's the "dog days" of summer?

I think there is although discerning it is difficult with publicity causing huge numbers of new members.  I think that slow-downs occur when you would expect them,,,holidays, going back to school, etc.

It has slowed way down for me too!  It's understandable with vacations, school about to begin, etc....   However, is frustrating as I would like to get some of these books shipped out of here.  LOL

After my moaning to myself that my WL books almost never appear, this summer they've started coming through.

I find a few months after Christmas to be very good for getting wished for books.  People have read those book gifts and are ready to post them.   In the summer more people are either on vacation or busy outdoors so aren't reading as much.   They also are away from their computers more.

I haven't noticed whether it's a seasonal pattern or not, but things have been moving much slower for me for the past few weeks. I haven't been getting as many orders (except for the wishlist books I've posted), and I haven't been getting as many wishlist offers. I haven't noticed an increase in timed-out orders or offers, though; there have just been fewer of both in general.

I tend to read the same amount all year round (except in November, when I'm doing NaNoWriMo), but I haven't been ordering as many books lately, in an attempt to get my TBR pile under control.

I always felt there were a lot of orders and wishlist offers in January and February when the holidays are over and people get back to "normal" activities.  But oddly enough, I had more wishlist offers in August this year than in any other month!

Unless it is a WL or popular book, I usually wait till I have 10+ books to post and advertise in the Book bazaar.

For me this works well and I get orders for the books I just listed as well as some that have been sitting on my shelf for a while.

I had some older classics on my shelf since I joined that have been requested during the week - think they must be on school reading lists.

However, my WL has been fairly static - though I have a large TBR pile at the moment so hopefully as I enjoy reading the TBR pile some of these WL books will come through.
