I LOVED it. In my opinion, this was the best of the Huxtable series.

Constantine has been the most conflicted character in each of the previous books and Hannah is the perfect haughty foil for him. Toward the end of the story, I found myself laughing on one page, crying two pages later and then laughing through my tears three pages later.

This book has made me all the more anxious to read the soon-to-be published Mary Balogh books the moment they are released. Her wonderful stories always include a lot of humorous dialogue from witty characters.

The last in the Huxtable series of 5; I really enjoyed it. This story was both emotional and romantic. I easily thought this was the best of the 5 books in the series. There was a lot of foreshadowing about Con throughout the series and was hoping that things played out similar to how they did, but I was surprised and pleased with the Duchess. I was moved at several places throughout the story - with Con's house of salvation; with the Duchess's place; with Con's feelings for Jon; with the story of how the Duchess lost her first fiance; etc... This was VERY well done; I only wish the other 4 were half this well done.

I really enjoyed this book. It reminded me why I love Mary Balogh so much. I grew to love the characters especially Hannah. It is a simple but beautiful love story. No great suspense or angst. No fighting, misunderstandings or jealous rages, just a slow journey of two people who are not happy (but not really unhappy either), discovering each other as lovers then as friends.

Enjoyable reading, nothing too heavy. A very good conclusion to the Huxtable family series. I really liked the main characters, and we get to revisit all the other family members from previous books. Not a lot of suspense however, if that's what you're looking for, because there is no big misunderstanding or tragic circumstance keeping the H&H apart.

This was a good. Con was so rude and unhappy in the previous books in the series. It was great to see that he had passion and love.

This was a good conclusion to the Huxtables but I thought Mary Balogh fell short on her writing. I liked the characters and the plot was good. However, she spent way too many words repeating herself, having Hannah lament the plight of a beautiful woman. Once would have been enough. The book would have been better 50 pages shorter and thus tighter. Still a good book, just had some pages to skim over.
