This is one of the most bueatifull colections of short stories I have ever had the plesure of reading. Means gives his midwestern subjects a sense of desperation and explosive unrest. He uncovers the extraordinary in the everyday. And explores common theams from uncommon vantage points. David Means does not recive the credit he is due. He is up there in quality and literary bueaty with all the greats! Everyone should read David Means and The Secret Goldfish is a perfect intorduction to his work!
