I have heard so much about this book.  I have been told many times that I need to read it.  I just have never gotten around to it--until now.

Am I the only one who just cannot get into this book???  I am about a quarter of the way through it and am just having a hard time feeling like picking it back up.  Anyone else?  I always feel like I am missing something when I just don't seem to care for a book that everyone else loves!

I didn't care for the book either.  You are not alone, LOL.  I just didn't read anything in the book that was unique, or very interesting.  The authors style of writing was boring for me.  I didn't experience any empathy with the characters.  Other books I found to be the same reading experience were The Mermaid Chair and The Memory Keepers Daughter.  Maybe in the hands of good writers, these books could have been better but really the material is just overdone, IMHO.

I love the Secret Lives of Bees, but nothing else written by this author. Bees absolutely enthralled me; the writing was so exquisite!

I tried listening to it and gave up.  I have no interest in seeing the movie either.  Life's too short, if it isn't working for you, move on!
