LOL. I just read some the authors she has lined up for give aways, and a virtual costume contest! I guess how this works if your tech savvy enough is to photo shop yourself into a favorite book cover or costume. This should be pretty funny. |

Well, just hope someone doesn't turn you in. I received an email the other day from the PBS powers that be iniforming me that they had modified my forum signature to remove the reference to my blog for violating the rules. I thought maybe they were doing some mass "correction" but noticed others still existed (not that I care but thought the rule should at least be applied across the board if that's what they were doing). When I inquired about it they basically said that someone "told" on me and that if I knew of others I was more than welcome to "turn them in". I told them I wasn't going to behave like a five year old. Last Edited on: 5/25/11 4:48 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Geez, guess I'd better go and modify my sig line too. Plus edit the comment. If anyone is curious what it's about please feel free to PM me. |

I wouldn't worry about the signature line until someone turns you in. Just thought the whole thing was rather interesting - they made it very clear that they wouldn't do anything on their own. Only if someone turned another person in. Last Edited on: 5/25/11 5:06 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Why would someone even bother with doing it I wonder? |

Hey, Cathy -- if you send me a WL book, I promise not to turn you in. |

Looking for bribes are we? Neither here nor there, the only WL books you have that I own are ones I'm not parting with anytime soon. |

Sounds like a case of blog envy Daphne. I don't get it either! |

Thanks - I really don't get it either. I mean, to a point I understand the reason behind their rule - none of us want to be bombarded with advertisements when we're here. But book blogs are at least relevant and I know my blog (as well as others) have provided lots of free "advertising" for PBS.
We'll see if they suspend my account or kick me out. After they told me they had no way of determining "inappropriate" forum signatures other than people being turned in , I told them that if their programmers couldn't figure out a way to do it then they weren't very good! I haven't gotten a response yet... |

Honestly, rules that are not enforced equally or don't do it at all. It isn't like a sign off like that is banging people over the head trumpeting a blog or something. |

I totally agree with Cathy, enforce the rules evenly across the board with all members or don't have the rule. |

I agree, and I don't see that having a link to your personal blog (in your sig line) should be an issue. If I see something on a blog that I think would interest the rest of you isn't that the point of these forums, the exchange of information. BTW Daphne I am almost certain it was your blog that lead me here. |

That's the thing, I don't want to be bombarded with posts telling me about come to my blog and see my latest giveaway (not that that happens here anyway), but here we have a great example of something that might interest other group members. Author Emery Lee has created a great group at GR called Romantic Historical Fiction, with the purpose of bridging the gap between the two genres. She's all excited about the one year anniversay, put a lot of time and effort into setting up a one day party at FB with tons of books being given away by various authors along with a few from Sourcebooks. And I risk getting in trouble with TPTB by posting a link and mention here? |
