Seducing Mr Darcy
Author: Gwyn Cready
Mr. Darcy just isn't Flip Allison's style. She prefers novels that include hot sex on the bathroom sink to the mannerly high-tension longing of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. That is, until she pays a visit to Madame K, who promises a therapeutic massage with an opportunity to "Imagine Yourself in Your Favorite Book." Somehow on the way to a...  more »

I got this book because I am an Austen fan and P&P is one of my fav. books. I read a lot of "related" books. I'm not exactly sure what I expected from this one, but I was pleasantly surprised. Usually any type of "time" changes drive me batty, but I found this easy to follow and it didn't bother me. I enjoyed Flip's character and was drawn into her story. It wasn't a 5 star read, IMO, but I did enjoy it and would recommend it. It's definitely over-sexed compared to most of the Austenesque books I've read, but the description leads one to expect that.

When reading the book, I was a little put off in the fact that Flip (heroine) was able to change "Pride and Prejudice." The more and more in depth into the "Pride and Prejudice" changes became problematic for me. I became involved in the story and it was well written, but I was tired of the continued references to Lizzy upset with Darcy. After a while, it became tedious. I did like how the book ended and once you over look the diasterous first results, the hero and heroine story is worth reading.

I liked this book - I wasn't expecting anything deep, the title alone should warn anyone looking for Pride & Prejudice aspects that reading this title isn't going to get you that. I really liked Flip and would have enjoyed more character development for Magnus. Suspend your disbelief when you read this and you'll enjoy it more.

In one word... disappointing. I tend to gravitate towards anything the mentions Mr. Darcy but this book just was too muddled. I know its fiction and we are supposed to suspend belief but this was just way out there. Didn't hate it and I will most likely read more from this author... just was disappointed by this one.

I am a bit up in the air about this one:) Not an Austen fan so I'm not sure why I even picked this one up. I have to agree with the previous reviewer...a bit of a muddle of a plot line. For me it started slow (might have to do with me being unfamiliar with the character's and plot from Pride and Prejudice). When the story played out in current time I tended to start showing interest again. I did like Magnus (hero), Flip (heroine) not as much and there were some little side plot points that were odd (pidgeons--don't ask)=)
I'd try another from this author because the parts I liked (the actual romance build/scenes between the H/H kept me reading. Would like a less convoluted plotline:)
