I've been a member here for awhile but have not ever requested many books. The reason is that I seem to always order books from people who never bother to answer the mails they get, whose husband never mails their packages, who loaned the book to someone else... you get my drift.  I'm a bit thick but are there ratings for traders?  I'm really tired of having to go to Amazon and shell out money for books that are listed here and that I have credits for.

There are stats kept on each member. That's why it's so important to let the system handle things, so that the stats can be updated and bad swappers can be booted out.

If you request a book and there's more than one copy in the system, then the request will roll over and over until the system finds someone to send you the book. In the meantime, the book is being removed from each unresponsive sender's shelf, and those senders are getting closer to having their accounts suspended. If the system gets to the last copy that was posted and nobody can send you the book, it goes onto your wish list. You only have two books on your wish list now, so it seems like you might not be waiting long enough to let this work for you.

PBS works best for books that you want to read sometime, but wouldn't go out and buy if they don't arrive in the next month.

I think you are in the minority. I would say that the lions share of the books requested gets to where they are suppose to be in a timely fashion. There aren't any rating for traders-unless you are doing box-O-books. I'm sorry you are having problems. Keep on trying. Be sure to mark RWAP if appropiate.

Hmm... I've never had that happen, that find me another book if the sender can't send it.

Sounds like you are having a run of bad luck. It really is not that common of a problem.

I went on an ordering spree a few days ago and ordered 8 books. All of them were accepted within two days and half of them have already been mailed.

Yes, we do find a lot of inactive accounts when ordering available books but, as others have said, we're doing our part to weed them out.

The key to this site is patience. It may sometimes take a while for someone to accept, print, package, and mail your book but, you'll get it eventually.

Susan, the request will only roll over if there's more than one copy of the book in the system.

It sounds like you're really having a string of bad luck.  I hope it will turn for you quickly.... Hang in there!

You only have 2 books on your WL. Fill that WL up and you'll start using some credits.

It sounds like you are ordering a lot of only copies.  If you just let it time out and go on your WL, you'll probably start getting them here.  I keep a big enough TBR at home that I don't mind waiting for the books on my WL.  I keep my WL full and get several books from it a month-and that's with being on vacation most of the time to save on postage costs. I just autorequest some books that I'm ready to get.

I agree Susan, more books on your wishlist should improve your situation.

I'm on a run of bad luck this week too, but it's unusual. Got one on WL today for my daughter and it's water damaged-- was a library withdraw even though it wasn't worn and is a very popular book for YA to check out so I figure library tossed it due to the water damage and buyer ignored that fact knowing it would get grabbed up right away. Asked for my credit back so we'll see what happens.

And yesterday I got 2 books from same sender and one was horribly smoky smelling (against my RC)-- she shipped them separately even though they were both heavy HCs, so I think she knew the one was smoky and didn't want to contaminate the other!  Plus paid over $6 to mail them separately.  Caused an asthma attack so know it wasn't in my nose's imagination!
