I requested a book yesterday and noticed when I clicked the button for order more from this member that her shelf was on hold. Shouldn't my book be placed back in FIFO for the next sender, since this sender won't be sending it to me? Or, do I have to wait the whole 5 days? I just thought it would automatically go to the next sender since this member's shelf is on hold.

Connie - Active requests are not affected by the hold so that means that most likely she put her shelf on hold AFTER your request went through (maybe she can't afford to send more books for now, she's going on vacation soon and doesn't want to get more requests, etc.) So the fact that her shelf is on hold now doesn't necessarily mean that she won't mail your book.

But to answer your question, in the case that she doesn't respond to the request, then you'll have to wait the 5 days for the transaction to be moved to the next person FIFO.

Connie,  sometimes after a request, I realize that I have reached the limit of books I want to send out in a month.  I will immediately put my account on hold, but I still send the books that have been requested. Sometimes I will not accept until a certain day, because I try to keep my PO visits to once a week - Friday or Sat.  So depending upon when the request  comes in, I might have to wait until I can accept the request.

I recommend letting the system handle the process ... wait the 5 days.  You can cancel the request and then request the book again.  Since her account is on hold, it will not be offered to her again and the offer will go to the next person in the FIFO line.

After I had 4 requests is one day this week-I put my shelf on vacation.  I can really only mail about 10 books a month and I also had orders on bookmooch.  I have a header on my profile saying that if my account is on vacation it's just for monetary reasons and I am taking care of any pending requests.  I don't know how many people actually look at though.  Yes I might be losing out on anything additional being added to the order. But I kind of figure if anyone reallywanted ot add a book to the order, they would have done it when they made the original request.  Sometimes with an autorequest WL book I'll leave my shelf open a while just to see.

Thanks everyone for your responses, and they all make sense! I will just wait out the 5 days, no problem.
