Is there a way to do that on my shelf to make it easier for people to look thru my books? I am going to do 3/2 on hardcover and 5/3 on paperback. I just don't want people to have to look at each book to know which is which. Can anyone help? TIA |

I believe when people look at your shelf they can choose to sort by bindings but, there isn't any way for you to do that in advance, I don't think! |

ok, thank you! Just wanted to make it easier, I have a slow computer so when I try to do the binding thing on someone elses shelf, it takes forever. I had hoped there was a way to make it faster for someone looking at mine. |

You could also tag them so people can see the tags when they're perusing. You can always delete the tags later. Then as people are going down your shelf page they'll see the tags. |

I can't see the tags when I am looking at a member's shelf. Is there a way to turn that on? Amend that, just double checked, I can see MY tags when I look at a shelf but not everyone's tags.

If you don't want to use tags, there is a way for members to search your bookshelf by binding type. All they have to do is to click on your bookshelf tab and when there they click on "Search: Filter: Browse by Genre" and then choose either paperback or hardcover in the binding drop down box. I know that probably sounds complicated, but when you try it out you will see how easy it is. Last Edited on: 6/12/08 11:51 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I use the 'sort by binding' all the time when viewing other's bookshelves - it works great for me. I'm on cable so I don't know how slow/fast it might be on dial-up, but it's almost instant for me. It's a fantastic feature - I couldn't do without it myself. |

You can also create a link which filters it for them. For example: I used my own shelf as the example. Since the links are pre-sorted, you don't have to wonder what everyone is seeing. |
