Slow day at the office, so I thought I'd fritter away some time and share.

This morning I pop in to look at the Amazon HF boards. *Someone* has posted the same comment on gawd knows how many threads,

"No reader will want to miss this unexpected and hypnotizing novel. An unforeseen strong ending. Just visit gatheringofowls.com and witness the mind-blowing amount of traffic this book site is getting and see for yourself why."-Virginian Book Review

This is the second time he's dropped his bombs and run and he got zapped by Amazon the last time. Hope they do it again. So, I go to HFB's profile and see he's made himself a Listmania. Now mind you, I don't mind authors doing that if they fess up, plus list other books (Susan Higginbotham's done some excellent ones), but this one is priceless.

Gathering of Owls: The Golden Chain of Command
1.  Gathering of Owls: The Golden Chain of Command by C. L. Thompson
The list author says:
"“No reader will want to miss this unexpected and hypnotizing novel. An unforeseen strong ending. Just visit gatheringofowls.com and witness the mind-blowing amount of traffic this book site is getting and see for yourself why. Gathering of Owls: The Golden Chain of Command by C. L. Thompson.”—Virginian Book Review"
$9.99   Used & New from: $7.89

Just one book on that list. Surprise. Not.

LOL! When will they realize that this sort of over-bearing self-promotion just turns readers off? I understand the need tp promote their work, but there's ways to do it without being underhanded and sneaky.

I like reading the Ammy H/F boards occasionally and it drives me bonkers to see how self-published authors try to insert their books in every conversation.
