It's like a cross between A.N. Roquelaure's Sleeping Beauty Series and Jaqueline Carey's Kushiel's Dart, with the plot parelleling Kushiel's Dart and the sex paralleling Sleeping Beauty. Not as well written as either, but it has its suspenseful moments. I recommend as a read for those who are looking for more books regarding submission.

Honestly...it's a pale copy of the Kushiel books by Jacqueline Carey...except with characters you can't sympathize with...and sex scenes that are...well...not very erotic. And the writing isn't that great.

Also...I kept reading "olfs" as "oafs" which was really distracting. Wanted to like it...but really didn't.

I thought this book was amazing! At first I was a little confused with the names of the different lands and different kinds of people but as the book went on it was easier to remember. The plot was something else though I couldn't put it down. I could really identify with the main character and a lot of the issues she possesed. I thought it was wonderfully intresting mixing erotica with a fansty war type theme. I can't wait to read the rest of the books this auther wrote.

Note: very sexually explicit.

The setting seems to be roughly Scandinavia, with some fantasy aspects thrown in. A woman grows up in a village and is sold to a man who trains pleasure slaves. She is trained, and then through a turn of events, makes her way in the 'world'. She ends up being a key player in some power struggles between two different groups, and finds true love. That said, it's more focused on the sexual scenes than on romance. An interesting read.

Was something new for me. Expected graphic sex and did not get any. Overall I enjoyed reading it and may try more from this author
