I have gone to my account settings page several times to try to set my favorite genres, but my preferences aren't being saved. Has anyone else had this problem? Before today, I had never used this settings page, so I was only getting recommendations on FABIL based on things on my wish list. Now that I have unsuccessfully attempted to select my favorite genres, I am getting recommendations on FABIL that say "Recommendations from your Favorite Genres." Unfortunately, nothing that FABIL is selecting fits into ANY of my selected genres. Some of what it is recommending is actually part of my "Excluded Genres" list! Also - I like PBS in concept and have had only positive experiences swapping so far, but this website is a tangled, confusing mess! I spend so much time clicking around trying to find what I need. Is there any way for users to make suggestions to the administrators for improvements? |

For me, it's that most of the - I don't know what to call them - oval buttons to click on? - aren't working, although they worked all right on Monday. I posted a book to my bookshelf last night, but couldn't add tags to it. I just tried to order a book, but the process stalled at the Requesting phase and won't continue even when I try to refresh the page. I suppose this is due to some sort of tweaking to the system, but it's sure not helping.

Hi Amanda i experienced similar issues when setting the favorite genres. I think it is because nothing is matching that exact list you are creating; what I have done several times is to stop at the level before such as Computers and Internet > Web Development> or Religion and Spirituality > Christianity > Fiction and Literature If on either one I go further my search seems to clear out and nothing saves. By stopping one level above the next time i set up my search it saves and works.
Hope this helps
BTW; website design is a difficult and moving target. I am sure suggestions are appreciated but one man's confusion is often another man's understanding. Yes a large part of my job is UI design for websites and I understand the pain on both sides :)
