What do I need to mark so I get notification that a book I've ordered has been cancelled?

I took advantage of an offer in the Book Bazaar (4 for 1) and she had to cancel it.  I only caught it because I noticed that the date I'd requested the book had changed.  I checked my transactions and, sure enough, the original order was cancelled.

I would have been upset if I'd only received 1 book instead of 4 but, of course, the new member isn't offering the same deal.

But I never get notified that my transactions have been cancelled or why.

Thanks!

ani

Ani, I just checked the settings and couldn't find anything regarding this. I thought an email from the site was the norm (unless it times out & goes into FIFO mode).

I just read a post concerning a bazaar offer that was cancelled because the gal's mom tripped and spilled a can of soda on a box of books this gal had offered up in the book bazaar in a 4-1 trade. She said she send a PM to everyone involved. Maybe that's what happened to yours. I wouldn't have a problem sending a PM (friendly) to check out what had happened.

I have learned to watch any bazaar offers I accept rather closely, having had them time out, go into FIFO and I wonder why I received only 1 book when it was supposed to have been 2 or 3. A total bummer, but it happens.

I've learned the deal offer lesson too: fortunately I cought it before the 2nd person accepted the offer.  I had ordered a 3 for 1 deal from someone who forgot to mark it mailed.  It had gotten passed on to the 1st person in the FIFO line but I happened to check on it and catch it before it was accepted.  Or I would have ended up with 2 of the books and no deal on the 2nd.

When you order a book and the person cancelled, your order rolls over to the next person offering it.   It is just assumed that you want that book - it doesn't take into account that you may care WHO you get the book from.

There is no place to mark this, you never get a notice that the sender has changed, it's just an automatic thing. I hope you made sure the sender was aware that this could have caused a great problem for you. Those offering deals like that should be reminded that when they cancel the order it automatically gets forwarded NOT cancelled on the requestor's end!

I was one of those where the swapper's mom had spilt the soda into the box of books waiting to be mailed.  I think she forgot to PM me (which is fine).  But I know if I have to cancel an order for any reason (usually because it doesn't match the requestor's conditions) I have to write down why I'm cancelling.  I thought those messages got forwarded.  Some people say they see them but I never have.

Ani - the order just moves on to the next person if there are other copies available in the system

This is one of the things I wish would change in the PBS system.  I wish an email notification would be sent out, as I have had this happen to me several times.  At the very least, I wish the system would require a PM from the sender when they cancel.
