I'll be honest - I didn't think I'd like this book. I'm not big on mysteries (Chick Lit type or not). But I LOVED this book! It was funny, intense, scary and then back to funny. So well-written and vivid. All the characters have their own distinct voices. Definitely a winner for me!

A highly entertaining read from cover to cover! A little suspense, a lot of humor, and very relatable characters. I've already recommended this book to several friends, including a few that live in San Francisco where the storyline is based. This is the first book I've read in the chick-lit/cozy mystery genre and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the 4-book series.

A well-crafted mystery, but ultimately forgettable.

Great book by Kyra Davis. It's the first of her's I've read and I plan to read all the rest of her books. I couldn't put it down since I had to know what was going to happen next.

This was a quick read, but fun and action-packed, a great first novel from this author. Unlike some other readers, I had the true murderer figured out about half way through, but I enjoyed the red herrings nonetheless. And even though I knew "whodunit", it was enjoyable to discover all the clues being left and how everything fit together. I'll be on the lookout for future books from this author.

Very good debut novel---some parts could have been developed a little more and the cute sidekicks were a little too cute sometimes, but I look foward to her future books.

I could NOT put this book down! It was fantastic! Chick lit, but on a bit deeper level I think with the mystery aspect. Fun, fun fun! I can't wait to read the next in the series!

Sophie is a writer of thriller novels and becomes convinced a reader is reenacting scenes from one of her books. I really enjoyed it. I figured out who the bad guy was a little early on, but it was still fascinating to find out the details. (I really don't think it's written obviously, but I just had a feeling early on and it was right). It has a sequel and I can't wait to read it! Overall, a great chick lit read.

I liked this book but I also thought that there was to much emphsis on the ratial thing.

When a mystery writer cries bloody murder, and everyone blames her overactive imagination...

Thriller scrbe Sophie Katz is a hard-boiled as a woman who drinks Grande Caramel Brownie Frappuccinos can be. So Sophie knows it's not paranoia or post-divorce, living-alone-again jutters when she becomes convinced that a crazed reader is sneaking into her apartment to reenact scenes from her books. The police, however, can't tell a good plot from an unmarked grave.

When a filmmaker friend is brutally murdered in the manner of a death scene in one of his movies, Sophie becomes coonvinced that a copycat killer is on the loose--and that she's the target. If she doesn't solve the mystery, her own bestseller will spell out her doom, Cursing her grisly imagination (why, oh , why did she have to pick the ax?), Sophie engages in some real-life gumshoe tactics. The man who swoops in to save her is mysterious new love interst Anatoly Darinsky. Of course, if this were fiction Anatoly would be her prime suspect....

Sex, Murder and a Double Latte- by Kira Davis

I finally finished this book and think that I have been picking at it forever. I must say this book was awesome. I thought it was going to be really corny and I was very wrong. I really enjoyed it and the whole, story within a story, within a story. I was so upset because I thought that the story was going to end a way that I didnt want it too and yet it completely ended the way I didnt expect. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it again.

I enjoyed this book. It was fun, funny and exciting! Characters are believable - I feel like I may actually know some of them. I stumbled upon the third book in this series and read it first, but it was worth my time to go back to the beginning. I'm impatiently awaiting the next volumes.

Sex, Murder and a Double Latte was my book club's pick but it has been on my to-read list for a while now. I assumed the book was going to be somewhere along the lines of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series but I was a little disappointed. Sophie and her numerous friends have the potential to be hilarious but the writing just never gets to that level.

There was a huge build up to make you think one person is the murderer but you can see from a mile away that Sophie is wrong and it just seemed forced that she kept on with that line of thinking.

Overall I did enjoy the story and characters but I just wish there was a little more humor. I'm still going to give book two, Passion, Betrayal and Killer Highlights, a try and hope Davis works out the kinks.

This was a fun read, but a bit of a letdown at the end. The suspenseful finish to the book was well-written, but way too contrived. This is the author's first book, so I'm willing to cut her some slack. But if she's going to pull out the stereotypes: mixed-race, homosexual hairdresser, sex maniac friend, dingy friend, Jewish mother, SAHM going crazy... the author needs to pull out the stops and pull no punches. Good enough to give her second book a try to see if there is some improvement. The framework is good, but she needs to push the envelope more if I'm going to continue with this series for long.

Sophie is a writer who suspects a crazed reader is reenacting scenes from her books -- did I mention she was a murder mystery writer. Sophie and friends set out to find the killer and some love along the way.

Sophie Katz is not your typical chick lit character. For one she is half Jewish and half black (it is great to finally see some ethnicity in chick-lit), secondly she does not work in the fashion or magazine industry, she is a bestselling mystery author, who in `SEX, MURDER & A DOUBLE LATTE' finds herself wrapped up in a mystery of her very own. After the deaths of a couple of A list celebrities Sophie begins to get a few mysterious phone calls and an odd note that reads "you reap what you sow". This is not quite enough to freak Sophie out, however, when the strange incidents start piling up she notices that they are coming from one of her very own novels. Sophie knows that it is not just her mind playing tricks on her but the police will have none of it, in fact she quickly becomes a suspect in her very own stalking as well as some other neighborhood crimes. Now it is up to Sophie and her delightful crew of friends to solve this mystery before the final chapter!
