My friend gave me "The Shack" to read the other day and I thought it was absolutely wonderful!! I was reading it in the airport and got stopped so many times by different people who were asking me "where are you in the book?". I've read a lot of books while waiting for my flights and never have I had strangers talk to me about a book I was reading.

I recommend the book to anyone who's spiritual or not.... who may believe in God or in a higher being.. or may be non-religious. I've been recommending this book to anyone that I know.

A dear friend gave me the book and made me promise that I would read it.............I hope to get to it soon.

There is also a thread on THE SHACK on the CHRISTIAN BOOK RECOMMENDATION site.  Mixed reviews.

What's it about?  I'm an agnostic and don't enjoy preachy Christian lit but I love stuff like Lewis' The Screwtape Letters where the story is strong and real, even with fantastic elements like demons.  I'm debating putting it on my TBR.

I don't know, maybe some would think I put in spoilers here so don't read on if you haven't read it and plan to.

I started it and didn't finish.  It felt too manipulative to me.  The set up situation of the little girl being kidnapped is unimaginably sad and then the black woman God thing  tries to be a creative and imaginative approach but it's all been done.  I felt like it was a book version of "Joan of Arcadia".   One of my best friends loved it and found it very meaningful however and we have very different spiritual journeys.  I would say to anyone to try it.

I loved the book.  Everyone I know that has read it loved this book.  Although it was slow in the first half I thought that the 2nd half really picked up and was very thought provoking. It was a for sure box of tissue book for me.  I recomend this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book too.  I think it all depends on where you are in life whether it works for you or not.
