The plot could use a bit of refining, the prose could use a bit of refining, the editing could use a bit of refining... you get my drift? Characters are nicely developed, and the action sequences were well researched. I am aware that there are five books in this series, but it is my sincere opinion that all books should stand on their own; and this one leaves a slight after-taste of being unfinished.
It IS very refreshing the almost-mutant twist on the male characters; I hope they get a better treatment character development-wise on the next installments.

This is a great book. The twists and turns along with the ideas and possibilites made it hard to put the book down. I have long thought that we don't use our brains to their full capabilities, and this book just adds fuel to the fire. Keep your mind open to the possibilites and let your imagination soar. Enjoy.

Lily Whitney is a scientist with a brilliant mind. Her father, Peter Whitney, was involved in paranormal research because Lily possessed psychic abilities. Peter Whitney was performing experiments for the military on men who volunteered for special training. These men are mostly special forces. But ... something has gone wrong with the experiment and the men are dying. The government has deemed them too dangerous to be set free. Peter calls in Lily to consult with him on his research and then disappears the next day. This is a fun story of conspiracy and danger with a little bit of romance thrown in as well. I enjoyed it.

I loved this book and can't wait to delve into the entire series!! I felt it was a welcome change of pace from Ms. Feehan's Carpathians series, which I also really enjoy. I found this to be somewhat similar to Sherrilyn Kenyon's B.A.D. series with a psychic twist.

The story moves at a pretty good pace & the interaction among characters is well done. I particularly liked Nico & Kaden and I can't wait to read their books. I'm also hoping Kyle gets his own, too. I highly recommend this book!

Please note - this book has graphic sextual content written in it (which I was unaware of when I purchased it). FYI. The plot is good, but the extra fluff was not necessary!

There is Military intrigue, psychic connections, and a love interest all contained within the story of a psychic who has been totally protected from the outside world by her father, a housekeeper, chauffer, and a security man since she was a small child. She is so intuned to other people's thoughts she has learned to block them out. That is until she comes to her father's lab and meets Captain Ryland Miller a soldier, along with his team, who has been mentally enhanced through her fathers experiments and now deemed dangerous. She fears him and is drawn to him at the same time. Its a very intense book about Military secrets, an all consuming passion and betrayal. Although slow in the beginning, I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to read more of Ms Feehan's work.

This book kept my attention because of the psychic abilities story-line. I am intrigued by what the human mind can accomplish and this series has promise.

What I did not like however was the amount of "romance" in this book. At one point I said to myself; "Enough sex already, just get on with the story." LOL I have just started the second book in this series, so I hope there is less romance.
paperbackjnkie avatar reviewed Shadow Game (GhostWalkers, Bk 1) on + 14 more book reviews
One of the worst things about Feehan as an author is her tendency to repeat herself and to use the same phrases and ideas throughout a book. You do not get much in the way of surprises. What you learn about a character the first chapter never evolves, but somehow you just have to finish her books and read more. This story is not different though interesting.

Depending on what genre you like, Feehan writes a good book.

Good story line about a doctor/scientist who performed expirments on children and military personnel to enhance phsychic ability. The daughter learns that she was one of his expirments after his death and then has to fix all the problems he created while falling in love with one of the military men her father experimented on. Quick paced, with lots of twists and turns as well as steamy romance. I can't wait to start the next one in the trilogy...

Far off the beaten path of her Dark Series, Christine Feehan has skillfully laid the groundwork for another series. This first book in the "Game" series offers plenty to keep the reader involved. Lots of scientific and technologic references, but not your typical romance.

I actually read the second book first, which made me want to go back to the beginning. I could've done without this one. Lily's and Ryland's characters were just annoying to me. She's a whiner and a cryer. I'm hoping to see less of them throughout the series.

Having fast made a name for herself in the vampire romance realm, Feehan (Dark Symphony, etc.) now turns her attention to other supernatural powers in this swift, sensational offering. When Lily Whitney's adopted father asks her to act as consultant on a project involving the development of advanced psychic powers, she is stunned to learn that he is experimenting on men from an elite military squadron. The men, lead by Capt. Ryland Miller, are separated and caged like lab rats in an underground facility where they have learned to communicate with each other telepathically, a talent Lily has had since birth. In true romance form, Lily and Ryland share an instant attraction, which leads to a few intriguing sexual liaisons (such as the sequence where Ryland enters Lily's dream). After Lily's father is murdered, she discovers that he harbored some despicable secrets, but that doesn't stop her from searching for his killer. At times it's difficult to overlook the story's improbabilities (e.g., Lily can move objects, but when in danger, she can't help herself) and Feehan's overly dramatic prose ("Small bolts of lightening whipped in his bloodstream"; "Tongues of fire raced along her skin"); however, this is still the sultry, spine-tingling kind of read that her fans will adore.
