I wanted to draw your attention to the School Donation Program.  My local elementary school is one of the "active schools" trying to get enough credit/PBS money donations for some new books.  This elementary school (Pre-K through grade 5) does not have a library in the school; they walk across the street to my library where they have weekly library classes.  They are an amazing group of children, most of whom (66%) qualify for free or reduced lunches, have parents who only work seasonally at our local ski resort, and do not always have access to books in the home.  If you have any spare credits that you would like to donate, know that these books will be put to such good use to enrich the lives of these children.  It's the Marlinton Elementary School in Marlinton, WV.

Off my soapbox...thank you!!!!

Thanks Vicky - It definitely helps to have a specific school in mind when doing these donations!

WOW Vicky - they have already met their goal of credits needed. Have you been"promoting" this for a while now???? LOL!

We've already hit our credit goal, and stand at 73.5% of our PBS money goal!!  Unbelievable!!  Then again, PBS people are so generous...I shouldn't be shocked.

LOL...Jeanne, NO.  I swear!  PBS people are just generous.  The newsletter came out and that helped.

I wondered if that wasn't a school from your area Vicky.  I love to donate credits for this cause especially at this time of year!!

Cheryl, I do too!  Yes, it's the school across the street from my library.  They don't have a library in the school, so each class comes to us once a week.  My children's librarian does excellent programs with the kids.  My funding for the classes runs out with this school year, and after the holidays I'm putting together a campaign to find the money to continue the classes for the children.  Blah.  Finding money is so difficult, and the least fun part of my job.crying

BUT...the kids will be so excited to see the new books!  I can't wait!

So happy your school met its credit goal -- and so quickly! My credit donation ended up going to another school, but as Indicated above, it's always wonderful to be able to support the school donation program

Deb, they did meet the goal quickly.  I ended up donating to the other two schools that were active. smiley It's just such a good feeling.
