I wanted to like this book. It started out with so much potential. The author had clearly put a lot of thought in the background of her characters, the history of the world, and even the characters themselves. It turned into a sappy romance novel near the end.

If you are looking for some adventure, look elsewhere. If you like a little adventure with your romance, look no further.

For me, this one starts out interesting, then becomes slow and less coherent as it winds its way to the conclusion. This must be the genre of fantasy romance -- the lead female character is torn between two men and fears rape from a third. She is always fretting does he love me, does he not. A lot of her motivations seem incoherent and not enough space is given to building out her fantastic powers. I thought the writing was kind of plain.
