I will start. I found this verse one day when I was crying and missing my mom so bad (around anniversary of her death). I have read Isaiah many times and for some reason I don't ever remember seeing these verses (or maybe it is that my heart just "saw" these verses truly for the first time). It is often difficult for me to understand why truly mean and evil persons go right on living as they please and good people like my mom are taken so early. These verses just lit up my mind, my heart, and my spirit. Never going to say "I just don't understand why" again! Isaiah 57: 1-2 NIV "The righteous perish, and no one ponders it in his heart; devout men are taken away and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.

Isn't that a wonderful passage from Isaiah 57? MY mom sent me that verse a while back when someone had died and I also didn't recall ever "seeing" it before. It was such a revelation! Then I think I came across it again in Max Lucado's book "Traveling Light" in the chapter about death. It IS such a comfort! A verse that sprang (is that a word?) to my thoughts when you asked this question was Matthew 6:27, "Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?" I recommend the entire 6th chapter. All my life I've been a worry-wart; worrying myself sick over what might happen next and what should I do to avert disaster. My son, Jordan, who is now 25, seems to have made this verse his own. He has repeatedly reminded me of it when I've been fretting over something. I'm seeing progress in my life towards handing the reins over to Jesus and letting him keep them. I have NO CONTROL over most things, and that is SUCH A RELIEF! My focus is shifting to HIM and letting Him take control of things, while I allow His peace to fill me. Thank you, Lord! Lisa =0) |

Oh, it varies week to week for me, depending on what I'm going through. Right now, it's in my signature line, and the reason I chose that one is because life's thrown me a lot of lemons lately. |

We've gone through a lot of struggles over the past several years, and a verse that has really helped me through that time is Isaiah 49:15-16: ".. I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands..." I guess it just reminds me that God knows all that is going on in my life, and truly loves and cares for me through it all. One that has recently touched my heart is Isaiah 42 :18-19: "Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland." Hope for the future! Last Edited on: 5/3/08 10:16 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I also have a verse from Isaiah --- one that helps me remember that after I pray to take a deep breath and wait on God to help with a problem or situation. Isaiah 40:31 (KJV) "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings of eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. |

Diane- that is one of my favorite "old" standbys! That verse has comforted me and strengthened me so many times during my life. |

Diane--That verse is one of my favorites, although I'm not sure that I have learned to wait, yet :) One verse that has really helped me through the years is Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; |

I also have many verses from the book Isaiah that comfort me (named my youngest that too!) But, overall in my life, one that I have turned to so many times, is all of Psalm 91, the reason why may be a lot to write in here, but always willing to share! Many times as a child and even as an adult I have turned to Psalm 91 and it has always been of great comfort to me. |

Romans Chapter 8 (Entire Chapter) If I am down, this chapter helps me get back to where I should be. [with God] I really love these 2 verses : 38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. |

I was "fussing" about having to give myself a shot (my first one by myself) and I was crying......scared and very distraught.........flipping through my bible looking for something comforting. I read Isaiah 41:10..........."Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you. I will uphold you in my righteous right hand." and as soon as I read that, an incredible feeling of peace came over me. |

Hebrews 10:5b I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. All the above verses I have loved and cherished that yall have written here. And there are absolutely so many that the Lord has laid on my heart to get me through my life. I had a hard time just picking one to write. But, this one reminds me, he is always with me and he hasn't forgotten who I am. And that brings me peace and comfort!

Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Psalms 91:11 - He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy paths. |
