I received this book as a winner of a Goodreads First Reads raffle. The opinions expressed are my own, which are objectively provided.

A story that could take place only in the Sunshine State. Whenever something goes to hell everywhere else in the country, Florida puts it on roller skates with rocket thrusters. I appreciated this story, after spending 13 years in South Florida, enjoy Palm Beach on down to Key West. The settings that the main character, Serge Storms, a creative sociopath with a wife that won't let him go takes us to allow for some true creativity (a bit like Dexter, if you follow that series) in eliminating people representing evil.

This story takes us back to the foreclosure crisis and blends real issues with John Grisham's "The Firm" (on rocket thrusters), with two new attorneys at a large South Florida firm, who along with a stoner attorney defeat the 1% and mortgage companies who defrauded a lot of South Floridians. The bad guys get their just dessert, which felt good.

This book is very funny in its language, analogies and jokes, but there are a few spots where I didn't understand the relevance of some of the characters (such as four elderly women who only seem to say "Bite me" and joke about crapping their pants when an iguana lays on them -- it would have been a bit of comic relief, if this book actually needed comic relief). There were a few other situations, where Serge "takes care of" some bad guys, where I really didn't understand the tie in to the main plot (or, if I were the editor, I would have suggested seemed like a tangent that really wasn't needed). A good 200 page story, weighing in at 300 pages based on extra "stuff".

Read it - you'll enjoy. I'd give it 3.5 stars - better than an average book; but not an all time literature great (my 5.0 star book) or a book that you must not miss (my 4.0 star book).
