Sharon Lois Bram Sing A to Z Author:Kim LaFave School Library Journal — All of the entries found here were originally recorded by this trio in an album of the same name. The songs celebrate and incorporate the alphabet with everything from chants to old standards to soft rock. Any practical use for the book separate from the recording is questionable. One line of melody--or sometimes none--is... more » given , and many of the songs are not easy. Without the musical help at their disposal, adults may have more than a bit of trouble in puzzling out the tunes and rhythms. In Sharon, Lois & Bram's Mother Goose (Atlantic Monthly, 1986) and Elephant Jam (Crown, 1989), this talented trio successfully transforms their work into a printed medium. Here, the alphabet idea is cleverly done and the illustrations fun, but this is clearly not a music book for everyone. And, if your aim is to transform Sharon, Lois and Bram's sound into your own, it's not a book for more than a few. -- Jane Marino, White Plains Public Library, NY« less
