Last weekend is the 1st time I have ever shopped from the Book Bazaar.  I have a lot of books coming my way!  Do a lot of people order books that way?

You know what I usually use bazaar for?  Kids book!  My kids go through books like crazy, so it would be really hard to spend a credit each on them - I'd neverr keep up!  Bazaar is what I use when I want to try a few books, but I am not sure I'm going to like them.  That way, I have the deal and don't need to worry as much about "wasting" a credit so to speak on a book I ended up hating.

I just tried the bazaar yesterday, and again today.  It seems like a good way to get a lot of books at once...but the problem i've run into is that most of the time I only find one book that I would like to get.

I found that if you post a "look at my shelf" thread though, that people do look and order even if you're not offering a deal.

I don't...mostly because people tend to post books there that I'm not interested in. Plus, I have a really long wishlist and like to wait for books to pop up that way.  Plus, I have a really big TBR pile!

I've had many a bargain there. It's also a great place to hilight a book on your shelf. I know it seem like just the deal threads are there but you can start a thread to hilight a great book or two on your shelf.

No, I try every once in a while to shop there for deals, but most of the stuff offered doesn't interest me.

I don't.  It's too much time to hunt through bookshelves. I watch the equivelent of look at my shelf in certain genre forums--I'd rather pay a full credit for books but know the books are probably of interes to me when I go browsing.

I have taken advantage of many offers on the bazaar. It is fun to pick out some books that you are not certain that you would want to choose if you had to use a credit for them. But, when several are free, it is a great time to try them! I have found lots of books that I enjoyed this way that I wouldn't have ordered in the FIFO line.

I have a couple times.  Usually when I'm bored and just seeing who has what.  I've tagged all my RL books.  Sometimes I order if I see someone who has more than 1 of my RL books and is running a deal.

I love looking there. I have a lot of books coming my way thanks to about 4 or 5 deals I have taken advantage of there in the past week.

i love looking through the Book Bazaar for deals.  i've ordered 3 deals this week.  :)  i'm happier to pick up a book that i'm not sure about if i'm getting something else with it, especially if the first book is on my RL.

I love to look and shop at the book bazaar, too. I think of it as the online equivalent of going to yard sales or thrift stores looking for bargains. It's fun to splurge on books I might otherwise bypass when I'm getting 2 or 3 or 4 or more for one credit.

I use it, for exactly the same reasons- to try out a bunch of books I'm not sure about.  I've gotten some really interesting books that way- stuff I would definitely not have ordered on its own.

I use the bazaar, for the same reasons everyone has mentioned.

I like looking thru people's bookshelves when I have the time-- for books that I am searching for.

Plus the "deals" offered are a great bargin!

I just started using it, I was able to get rid of 3 teen books that were useless to me and got a credit for it.  I also like that you can post a "I'm looking for a deal on...".  I did a post like that a couple of days ago looking for a deal on a certain series and had 4 people pm me within a day with 3 for 1 offers.  It was a WHOLE lot easier than going through everyone's shelves trying to find those that were offering 3 for 1 to find that series (which I did try at first with no luck).

I look around sometimes, but I find all the caps and !!!! and LOOK!! and such so distracting and busy that I lose interest quickly. Just too much visual garbage to go through. Also, I am not interested in romances, children's books, or so many of the other things that are offered. Nothing wrong with the Bazaar, just not my cup of tea.

I go there a lot to browse the shelves for books I've forgotten about or to discover some I may have missed.  I tend to think of the place as an online thrift store for books only there I sift through them without getting my hands grimy.  As far as ordering though, I'm just as likely to order through FIFO as place an order in the Bazaar.

I go there every once and awhile. Used it twice. Mainly good when I need to get a bunch of books for my mom, since she loves romance. I was able to find a 10 for 1 deal once :-)

I have gotten some great deals that way but right now I have so many books that I need to whittle that down to an acceptable level!

It's a great place to find - and offer - good deals.  I do wish, though, that people would note their genres in the subject line.  That prevents some of the the boredom that Les mentioned - slogging through bookshelves full of genres you don't read.

I do sometimes when I'm looking for a deal on some of my reminder list books if I can't find them through BOB. :)

Not sure if this is the proper place or not, but this recently dawned on me.

In the past, in threads where members were free to post books on specific topics, such as "sports books" or "books on pets", I would copy and paste the title and author directly from my bookshelf because it saved me typing it myself.   It then shows up in blue.  BUT, if a shopper is interested in that title and just clicks on it, they are taken to FIFO where they can place their order.  SO, unless the poster has the ONLY copy or happens to be first in line in the FIFO, someone else will get the order.  The poster would not be aware that a different copy was ordered and the orderer may not notice it.

Maybe lots of other PBS'ers know about this but there are probably some who do not.  Hope this helps.

As someone relatively new to the site I don't have a lot of points as I haven't mailed out many books yet.  So I love the book bazaar.  When I have a credit I shop it until I find a deal on books I am interested in.  I agree with everyone too who said it is a great way to try a new author or a book you are not sure you'll like for free along with a book you know you'll like from one of your favorite authors.  I have been browsing the book bazaar for someone with a deal who has the divine secrets of the ya ya sisterhood books hoping to get lucky, but haven't yet.  I would like to see the movie, but I prefer to read the book first =)
