I just finished Olive Ktteridge and starting a Charlaine Harris short story book. It got me thinking I don't think I have ever seen a book of short stories of just historical fiction. It is a popular new way of putting out a book. Lots of them in romance, paranormal and mystery genres.  Does anyone know of a book of short stories in historical fiction?

I've only come across HF short stories a few times:

The Death of a Confederate Colonel, Civil War Stories and a Novella - Pat Carr

Tales of the Wars of Montrose - James Hogg

Stephen Crane has some short story books that are primarily HF.

I'm a short story fan also.  Olive Kitteridge is on my TBR pile somewhere.      And my observation is that you are right.  There just aren't that many historical fiction short stories out there.   Sheila, thanks for coming up with that short list. I'll give them a gander.

I do have several collections of historical mystery short stories on my TBR that I'm looking forward to reading.   A lot of these fall in to one of the many and various historical mystery series.

And then there are the short stories that were contemporary at their time, but are now classical / historical - like those writen by O'Henry, Poe, Hemingway, Twain, Christie, etc.
