3rd in a new historical series featuring Lady Rose Summer and Capt. Harry Cathcart. An entertaining cozy.

Okay, that's weird--the cover says "M. C. Beaton writing as Marion Chesney". However, the lady's real name is Marion Chesney, but many of her mysteries are written under the pseudonym of M. C. Beaton. This is obviously a bid to bring in the people who have been reading about Hamish Macbeth and Agatha Raisin, but it is so strange the way it is worded.

Lady Rose befriends new debutant, Miss Dolly Tremaine. something is troubling the beautiful young woman, and before Rose can find out what it is, in order to help, Rose finds Dolly stabbed to death. Rose and her companion Daisy manage to get into all kinds of trouble, as usual, in order to solve the mystery. The on again off again engagement of convenience continues, but it seems both parties are becoming more aware of feelings they have for each other....a fun read...
