I know this stuff happens to us all but I'm a little frustrated right now.  On 12/21 one of my WL books was offered to me.  I had it on auto-request so it was immediately accepted.  That same day I checked out the poster's shelf and also requested another book by the same author.   At some point she accepted both and said she would mail by 12/29.  Yesterday I noticed that the books still had not been marked mailed so I looked at her account and her shelf is on hold now.  Last night the requests timed out.  The second book has rolled over to the next poster, which is fine.  The WL book went back on my WL and now I'm #2, not #1.

I'm not looking for answers, I already know all the reasons.  I just wish people wouldn't post if they can't mail.  I know "life" happens, unexpected things come up, you get more requests than you can afford, etc.  I've mailed 12-15 books in a week before so I know postage can add up.  But she accepted the requests and agreed to mail them.  If it was a money thing she could have PMed me.  Don't just put your shelf on hold and disappear!

The only time I've ever not mailed a book that was requested or let a request time out was after Hurricane Ike.  I was without power and internet for 14 days.  I had 4 books that needed to be mailed when we evacuated.  As SOON as I got back online I PMed the requesters and explained what happened.  3 of the 4 requested them again and I mailed them immediately.

Ok, vent over. I feel better now.  Go back to your regularly scheduled Sunday activities.

Unfortunately there is no way to "know" exactly what happened......... It does seem that common courtesy is slowing becoming a thing of the past in this world....not just here on PBS.

I don't know who your sender is, but I do know there is at least one member on PBS whose adult son was in a severe car accident recently. She had to fly all the way from NY to CA very suddenly. She certainly wasn't worried at the time about any books she had outstanding on her account. She has since put her account on hold from a computer in his hospital, but I don't think she bothered to cancel any orders or PM anyone to let them know what was going on, and I don't think she should be expected to do so. In fact I think the fact that she thought of PBS AT ALL is pretty amazing considering her son is most likely going to die.

You just never know what people do or don't do something.  What also could have happened was she mailed it and didn't mark it mailed....So you might end up with two books????

Regardless of the reason, if you contact the TPTB, they can move you back to #1 on the WL.
